本书是“电子信息类高等职业教育课改系列规划教材”之一，全书由十个单元组成，每个单元的内容分为三个部分，第一个部分是Lead in，第二个部分是Further development，第三个部分是Comprehensive progress。本书练习设计的方法丰富多彩，听、说、读、写、译等语言技能的训练围绕同一主题展开，体现了综合语言技能的培养手段。具体内容包括“Computer Science”“Automation Technology”“The Environment”“Energy Science”等。该书可供各大专院校作为教材使用，也可供从事相关工作的人员作为参考用书使用。
