陕西籍作家在中国文坛中拥有极为重要的地位，成为中国文学、尤其是中国乡土文学的一支重要力量，陕西作家群创作的优秀作品真实记录了近100年来的社会转型轨迹，具有重要的文学欣赏价值和学术研究价值。

由陕西省作家协会编著的《陕西作家短篇小说集(英文版)》汇集了改革开放30年来，陕西具有代表性的作家如路遥、贾平凹、陈忠实、叶广芩、高建群、冯积岐、红柯、李康美、张虹等20位著名陕西籍作家的短篇小说代表作。
