Arte povera is an Italian art movement that, like Fnturism and Metaphysics, is recognized on an international level as one of the most important avant-garde art tendencies of the 20th century. In the mid-Sixties it brought about a radical definition of art that emerged as an alternative to the prevailing poetics of that time that were inspired by images typical of consumer society.Wbile not hesitating to make use of canvas, drawing or photography, the "povero" artist works with primary materials. These can be elements that belong to nature, such as earth, fire, wool, plants and animals; or elements that express the energy inherent in all things, such as neon light, wax or salt, which react to the environment, or copper or lead, which are easily malleable.
