田中重好、折晓叶主编的《公共性的比较社会学研究(英文版)》提出“生活公共性”这一概念，并以此为出发点观察和分析中日两国在社会日常生活中公共性的具体社会表象，扑捉和把握两国社会当下“公共性”的新动向。在此基础上，本书还探讨将公共性作为分析社会的概念具有怎样的可能性，以及当今重新构筑有关公共性的研究对于社会学理论具有怎样的意义。

This book puts forward the concept of "publicness" thatis deeply embedded in daily societal life, and takes it asa starting point to observe and analyze the specific socialrepresentation of publicness in the daily life of China andJapan.
