German painter Alex Tennigkeit (born 1976) investigates the codes of hip-hop culture through visual and textual citations from film, music, fashion and advertising, to capitalize on the most superficial elements of the media world--naked bodies, blinging jewelry and fast cars. These images assume an apocalyptic tone when paired with elements like skulls, bones and fire.
