本书以研究写作修改子过程为切入点，针对以往的修改模型中存在的成分不完整、功能不明确、关系不清楚、缺乏实证验证等不足，构建中国英语学习者的写作修改模型，并从该模型的三大组成部分中各抽取一个关键的、但还缺乏研究的组成部分，进行详细的研究。它们是英语作文修改过程中的情感、元认知知识和修改决策三个成分。本书研究了这三个成分各自的特征以及相互之间的关系，从而检验了英语写作修改模型的合理性。
