　　丰富经验的巴黎警探皮耶（让·雷诺 Jean Reno 饰）来到大学城侦查被绞杀的尸体高悬在山崖上的离奇命案。经过一番调查后尼芒斯发现：这所著名学府历史悠久，人才 辈出，但校方为了推行精英观念，竟让教职员间世代通婚。与此同时，充满冲劲的当地年轻警察麦斯（文森特·卡索 Vincent Cassel 饰）则在小教堂追查20年前神秘失踪的少女，有人入侵了十八年前死于车祸的十岁女孩朱迪丝的墓室，并在那里涂画纳粹标志。看似孤立的两起案件却有着内在联系，于是两个办案风格大异其趣的人不得不变成搭档，联手侦破其中的秘密。经过层层抽丝剥茧，终于使隐藏在案件背后的真相浮出了水面。
