　　杜兰尼（安东尼奥·班德拉斯 Antonio Banderas 饰）是一位小有名气的舞蹈家，但是，事业上的成功并不能弥补他的空虚感，因为在杜兰尼的内心里，将舞蹈的精髓发扬光大，让每一个人都感受到舞蹈的乐趣和自由才是他真正想要到达的终点。怀抱着这样的理想，杜兰尼开始行动了。
　　杜兰尼将据点设在了位于纽约的一间公共学校之中，虽然做好了最坏的打算，可接下来发生的事情依旧让杜兰尼感到沮丧和失落。不过世上无难事只怕有心人，随着时间的流逝，越来越多的学生们加入到了杜兰尼的舞蹈学习班里来，通过和这些年轻又富有活力的年轻人交流，杜兰尼也找到了自己新的人生意义。
