Jiang Zehui主编的《WOOD PROPERTIES OF THE GLOBAL IMPORTANT TREE SPECIES(精)》introduces wood properties and uses of the global important tree species. Based on Chinese edition published in 2001, the English edition is written in the hope of enhancing international experience sharing and cooperation of wood science and technology and is comprehensively and systematically updated and supplemented wood anatomy and general
characteristics, physical & mechanical properties, machining properties and use with the latestprogress in wood science and technology, with reference to Microscopic Features for Softwood and Hardwood Identification, both edited by International Association of Wood Anatomist (IAWA) and published in 2004 and 1989, respectively.
《WOOD PROPERTIES OF THE GLOBAL IMPORTANT TREE SPECIES(精)》 is divided into seven chapters. Chapter 1 covers an introduction; Chapter 2 through 7 describe the properties of important commercial species according to geographical distribution, including China, Southeast Asia, the South Pacific, Central and South America,Africa, Europe, North America. The book has described 458 tree species, including 84 coniferous tree species within 32 genera and 8 families; 374 broad-leaved tree species within 257 genera and 66 families, with an attachment of 1338 microscope photos. In each chapter, the species is divided into gymnosperms and angiosperms, which constructed in an arrange of the first Latin alphabet of family, genus and species. In each species, common, scientific and foreign names are given, together with information on tree description and geographical distribution. The macro-structure characteristics and micro-structure characteristics are described in detail, and there are notes on wood properties, processing, uses as well as classifications by main physical and mechanical properties.
《WOOD PROPERTIES OF THE GLOBAL IMPORTANT TREE SPECIES(精)》 is to show the current research results with high academic value and use value. The publication of this book will promote the study of wood properties and uses of the global important tree species, and have high reference for the production, teaching and scientific research units. At the same time, it will also contribute to preserve and culture forest, manage and utilize forest sustainably by improving the acknowledge of wood properties.
The chief editor of this book is Jiang Zehui.
