1991年11月，中国正式成为APEC大家庭中的一员。20多年来，作为中国参与的第一个区域经济合作组织，APEC成为中国与亚太地区其他经济体开展互利合作、开展多边外交、展示中国国家形象的重要舞台。中国通过参与APEC合作促进了自身发展，同时中国也为推动APEC的合作、推动亚太地区经济发展、实现亚太地区持久繁荣稳定作出了突出贡献。
