WHEN WE SAT DOWN AFTER WORKING TOGETHER FOR TWENTY-five years to select the photographs for this book, we did not know what we would discover about ourselves. We knew that we were versatile designers whose enthusiasms ranged from modernism to eighteenth-century France, from chinoiserie to American folk art, and we wondered if there was a common thread that defined our career. What became apparent to us was that the most important feature in each of the twenty-four projects in this book is the way our clients' personalities and passions are reflected in their homes. Decorating for us is a collaborative process. We think of our clients as partners and muses and see ourselves as interpreters of their dreams by listening very carefully to them.We like to do what we have not done before, weaving together a dynamic and divergent aesthetic vocabulary to conceive one-of-a kind interiors.
