In Western countries, one of the consequences of the globalization of the economy has been the concentration of workers in the tertiary sector; more than half the population works in offices, a percentage very similar to that of the population living in the world's big cities. This has given rise to a social class that, despite have very disparate purchasing powers, moves in very similar environments: the city and the office. Although the technological revolution of the last thirty years may have changed our way of understanding the world, the work space continues to be the same as it was two centuries ago: a table, a chair, a space for storing information, writing material and artificial lighting for working when there is little or no natural light.
