岩石力学是一门研究一定地质环境中的岩石和岩体在外界因素(如荷载、水流、温度变化等)作用下的应力、应变、破坏、稳定性及加固的学科。又称岩体力学,是力学的一个分支。研究目的在于解决土木、水利、采矿等等众多工程建设中的岩石力学问题。它是一门新兴的,与有关学科相互交叉的工程学科,需要应用数学、固体力学、流体力学、地质学、土力学、土木工程学等知识,并与这些学科相互交叉。
本书共分8章,主要介绍岩石和岩体的基本物理力学性质,岩体的流变、渗流等基本理论,岩体的初始应力状态以及在地下工程中的应用。本书既可作为采矿工程、土木工程、交通工程、水利工程、地质工程等专业的教材,也可作为高等院校、科研院所和工程部门科技工作者的参考书。
