这是由一篇博士论文改编而成的学术专著,全书以英文的形式呈现。本研究以细致的文本分析为基点,以探讨母女关系和为母之道的代表性女性主义理论为参照系,对比分析白人中心的主流女性主义话语与美国华裔妇女及其有色人种姐妹的立场异同,从而肯定华裔妇女文学在表现母女关系主题上的独特角度。在运用女性主义方法论的同时,本书也借助前沿的后殖民主义理论,强调性别、种族和阶级等范畴的密切关联,希望能揭示出美国华裔母系文学如何发声以证自身存在的途径和方式。本书横跨美国少数族裔文学研究和妇女文学研究两个领域,兼具文学研究和文化研究的特点。
