As an artist starting out in my studies, I spent countless hours poring over the pages ofthe Society of Illustrators Annuals. It was there that I learned what illustration was and could be. It inspired me, as it has so many others before and since, to create the best work possible and to push the boundaries of the field. Years later it continues to inspire, and it remains both the best and most comprehensive annual exhibition of'the art of-illustration.
