本书的主体部分可划分为三部分。第一章探讨赵健秀的《龙年》、薇莉娜·哈苏·休斯顿的《茶》以及山内若子的《灵魂之舞》三部戏剧中人物的理想化表演。第二章分析亚裔在寻求文化身份的过程中因接受误传而产生的困惑。第三章围绕黄淮美的《中国洋娃娃》和黄哲伦的《蝴蝶君》展开，解读种族主义在神秘化的掩盖下如何将亚裔人物刻板化。

苏亚娟，文学博士，厦门大学外文学院助理教授。主要从事英美文学研究与教学，专注于美国亚裔文学，尤其是美国亚裔戏剧研究。曾在《戏剧艺术》等期刊上发表论文7篇，参与多项国家和省级课题项目。
