本书是根据高等职业教育机电工程类专业英语教育要求编写而成的。本书在编写过程中，充分汲取高等职业教育机电工程专业英语的教学改革经验，以就业为导向、以能力为本位，突出实用性、适应性和针对性，旨在培养学生顺利阅读和使用专业英语的能力，加强综合素质的培养，满足高等职业教育机电工程专业英语教学改革和培养高素质应用型、技能型人才的需要。
