《中国绿色发展指数报告2011（英文版）》由德国斯伯林格（Springer）出版集团面向全球正式出版发行。中国省区和城市的绿色发展指标体系由经济增长绿化度、资源环境承载潜力和政府政策支持度三个部分构成，分别反映经济增长中生产和资源使用效率、资源与生态保护及污染排放、政府在绿色发展方面的投资、管理和治理情况等。报告还重点对“十一五”时期中国绿色发展取得的进展进行了总结分析，并推出了11项与绿色发展密切相关的专题研究。
