本教程主要供英语专业(国际贸易)方向的本科生使用。该教程共由五个模块组成：口译课程导论、口译技巧与实践、技巧练习与实践、专题练习与实践以及练习参考答案。具体分为五个部分。第一部分：口译课程导论，介绍交替传译概况，基本概念，口译分类，口译特点，口译标准及评价和合格译员的要求等。第二部分：口译技巧与实践，集中介绍了六个主要口译技巧：口译记忆，口译笔记，数字口译，习语口译，专业术语口译和流行熟语的口译。每个单项技巧学习之后均配以巩固该技巧的练习。第三部分：技巧练习与实践，有针对性地选编了巩固和应用口译技巧的练习供学生演练。内容题材按先易后难排列，以利学生循序渐进地熟悉和掌握。第四部分：专题练习与实践则是在学生口译技巧已初步掌握的基础上，并已能够口译一般性题材内容的前提下，结合学生的专业方向，提供了倾向性的口译素材即国际贸易和商务方面的内容。第五部分则为所有的练习提供了参考答案，供学生对照检查或自学。书中的大部分内容已在教学中使用。
