◎简　　介

　　安东尼康平神父（休·格兰特 Hugh Grant 饰）受教会所托，携妻子艾斯黛拉奔赴偏远的澳大利亚小镇，去劝说画家诺曼林赛（山姆·尼尔 Sam Neill 饰）撤掉即将举办的个人画展上一张亵渎宗教的画作。
　　甫一下车，夫妻俩即发现自己陷入了怪诞的境地：酒馆里满嘴脏话的老头子、懒洋洋讲着冷笑话的酒客们都十足透露着不友好。画家林赛本人的不合作态度更是坚决。饭桌上时常出现的混乱争论、男女模特们满不在乎的行为方式、以及小镇居民与画家模特们的对立让康平神父的任务横生枝节，也让艾斯黛拉的思想与行为慢慢的产生转变，面对自己造成的一对模特间的隔阂，艾斯黛拉决定在离开之前为他们做点什么……
