　　本片荣获艾美奖最佳影片、最佳女主角等多项大奖，是一部有血有泪感人肺腑的电视电影，由著名戏剧家亚瑟．米勒根据太裔歌唱家范妮．费尼洛的回忆录改编，描述二次世界大战期间犹太人在集中营挣扎求存的真实事迹。范妮原为巴黎著名歌星，战争期间，她跟其它犹太人被送到慕尼黑的一个劳工营囚禁。所有的女囚犯，全部要脱光衣服，剃光头，在手臂上刺上编号，才发配到集中营。在那里，每天都有人被送到毒气室集体屠杀，有些年轻的女囚犯为了换取一个面包，不惜向看守的德士兵卖身。幸运地范妮和一些懂得乐器演奏的女囚犯被挑选组成了一个管弦乐队，一方面为黑衫军军官提供娱乐，另一方面则为送进毒气室的死囚演奏送葬。就是在这样一个完全将人性自尊剥夺了的恶劣环境下，这群女性挣扎着活了过来。范尼莎．雷德格雷夫和简．亚历山大在片中都有精湛演出。
