英国剑桥大学ESOL考试中心在全球新推出一套具有理论基础与实际教学能力评测的“剑桥英语教学能力证书”，为母语系非英语国家的中小学或成人英语教师提供英语教学能力认证考试，成为具有国际公信力的英语教学专业能力评量系统和培训体系。

《剑桥英语教学能力认证考试教程》原版书由剑桥大学出版社作者与剑桥大学ESOL考试中心联合编写，是ESOL考试中心指定的培训教材，所有的作者都拥有非常丰富的教师培训和相关教材编写经验。

依照TKT考试的内容，全书由三大模块组成：1）语言及语言教学的背景知识；2）课程计划及语言教学资源利用；3）课堂教学组织与学习过程管理。每个模块又分为若干单元，全书共32单元，每个单元都提供TKT考试的模拟题，书后提供参考答案。
