本教材是“全国高等中医药院校中药学类专业双语规划教材”之一。本教材共编写21个实验，涵盖传统剂型、普通剂型、新技术与新制剂、开放性实验等多种类型。教材采用中英对应，英文以《中国药典》英文版、《美国药典》《欧洲药典》等为其准，使用文献论文的行文习惯，注重英文翻译的信、达、雅。
