本书以外国人看待中国抗击新冠肺炎疫情的斗争为切入点和主要内容，汇编了包括斯洛文尼亚前总统达尼洛·图尔克、波黑前总理兹拉特科·拉古姆季亚、原俄罗斯联邦总统经济顾问谢尔盖·格拉济耶夫、美国《全球策略信息》杂志社华盛顿分社社长威廉·琼斯、英国伦敦经济与商业政策署前署长罗思义等在内的多国前政要和知名专家近两年的文章。这些文章对人类命运共同体理念、中国治理能力、中国道路等方面进行了解读和分析。外国专家对中国抗击疫情的行动给予了高度评价，认为中国在抗疫中所展现出的力量和担当是以实际行动践行人类命运共同体理念，国际社会只有携手合作，才能战胜病毒这一全人类的敌人。

刘元春，经济学博士，现为中国人民大学副校长，经济学院教授、博士生导师，“长江学者”特聘教授、国务院特聘专家。国家“百千万人才工程”有突出贡献中青年专家、国家新世纪人才。先后获得2001年全国优秀博士论文奖、第十届和第十一届孙冶方经济科学奖、第七届和第十一届北京市哲学社会科学优秀成果奖、第五届吴玉章人文社会科学优秀奖、教育部第六届高等学校科学研究优秀成果奖、第三届国家“三个一百”图书奖，在《中国社会科学》《经济研究》等学术刊物发表论文近四百篇，出版专著十余本。
