“中学生英语拓展阅读”系列图书共4册，选材新颖、题材鲜活、文章地道。所选文章均来自英美报纸、杂志及各大青少年阅读网站。精选的文章可以帮助学生循序渐进地进入英语学习的真实场景，是培养学生靠前视野的基础。
《初中英语拓展阅读初二》包含文化和教育、社会和生活、科学、科技和运动4个大主题，并分为8个小话题，共58篇文章。每篇文章长约350词，文后精编5道选择题，读练结合，帮助学生强化对文章的理解。每篇文章包含精讲单词15～25个，精讲单词按照难度分为大纲词和进阶词，讲解内容包括英文释义、记忆方法、例句、搭配和派生词等。

俞敏洪：新东方创始人，新东方教育科技集团董事长，北京大学企业家俱乐部理事长，洪泰基金创始合伙人。第十一、十二、十三届全国政协委员，民盟中央委员，民盟中央教育委员会副主任。1962年生，江苏江阴人。北京大学西语系毕业。1985年任北京大学外语系教师，1993年创办北京新东方学校，2003年成立新东方教育科技集团。2006年9月7日，带领新东方在美国纽约证券交易所成功上市。编著有“词汇/绿宝书”系列，对应中高考、四六级、专业四八级、考研、考博等靠前考试，以及TOEFL、IELTS、SAT、GRE、GMAT等出国考试，深受读者喜爱。
