《21世纪成教英语教师参考书（2）》的对象是成人，所以编者徐丽君在整个编写过程中，重点考虑了中国的成年人在学习英语这门外语时所具有的优势和常用方法上的缺陷，并以此为出发点，把主要的力量放在了各类练习的编写上，以便达到帮助学生运用工作之余有限的时间，高效、快速而且熟练地掌握英语这门外语。
成年人知识结构比较完备，归纳推理的能力更强，而且能够比未成年人更加自觉地将归纳推理的方法贯彻到非常彻底。所以，本教材绝大部分的各类练习都贯彻和体现了归纳推理的方法。
有鉴于此，本教材的练习绝大部分是一种创新的尝试，使练习既显得简单，同时又更加富有实际应用价值。
