A London art collector asked Mark Mertens (am projects) to refurbish her residence and provide for the interior decoration. The aim was to design a timeless, minimalist interior in which the art collection would be set off to best effect. For this reason the decision was taken to maintain the existing original elements of the residence, and restore these where necessary. All fitted cupboards and bathrooms were designed by Mark Mertens to enable optimal integration into the existing architecture.A limited range of materials was used: Italian Carrara marble and blue Belgian limestone for the bathrooms and oak-wood plankfloors throughout the residence.
