Meridians and collaterals are the conduit system for the circulation of qi and blood. Along the meridians there are certain points where the qi of the visceral organs reaches. Because acupuncturists use these points, they are called acupoints. Although no acupuncture is involved in this book, there are many instructions for digital pressing, kneading, massaging and performing other manipulations of the acupoints. I have adopted in my translation the Standard Acupuncture Nomenclature recommended by WHO Working Groups and published by the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific.
