本书是中等职业技术学校医药类专业必修课之一。在内容编写上按照医药行业的要求和规范，以药品服务的实践为主线，以工作任务为依据划分教学模块，每个模块均按照五个部分编写：情景对话、基础知识、拓展知识、实训、思考和练习。注重英语基础知识，力求体现课程综合，兼顾不同需求，重点培养学生的语言应用能力，英语与医药销售、医疗常识相结合，注重所选话题和内容的真实性和有效性，使学生能够学以致用，学即能用。本书注意前后教学环节的联系，致力于促进师生互动、学练结合，具有较强的中等职业教育特色。
