There was a huge demand for information; in1945 there were no fewer than thirty-four dailies on the Paris news stalls and countless weeklies. Therewas also a great revival of the arts. The journal Arts noted that in the fifties international exhibitions were"springing up like mushrooms". Publishers recorded some splendid successes, bringing out works byWilliam Klein, Robert Doisneau, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Brassa'i and Willy Ronis that have since attainedclassic status. This momentum carried on into the late fifties.
