It is known that sensory stimuli are of the utmost importance to a child's development. Numerous case studies have been carried out to determine the effect of our architectural environment on young children and their behavior. After careful analysis of these, Preschool & Kindergarten Architecture has selected 29 exemplary nursery schools from around the world. Each of them is a successful rendering of the qualities that make an ideal spot for children, in combination with innovative architectural practices.

These installations are required to have certain qualities that are increasingly established by law: they must be safe, with no toxic substances or accessible electrical systems. Moreover, they must be calming while at the same time capable of stimulating a child's interest, made with materials that absorb noise, as well as padding the inevitable fall! Finally, all technical and ecological installations, such as solar panels, tanks for rainwater collection and recycling facilities, are fully analyzed and explained.
