大型、开放的系列丛书。本升级版或保留原有经典图书品种，或继之以经典图书的新版，或引进国外语言学与应用
语言学领域的新锐力作以进一步拓展学科领域，希望它能继续对我国语言学教学与研究和外语教学与研究起到积极
的推动作用。

《社会语言学通览》是"当代国外语言学与应用语言学文库"（升级版）中的一本，本书28篇文章均由知名社会语言
学学者撰写，通过不同的分支或专题角度，从语言的社会维度和社会的语言维度综述了社会语言学的研究状况。以
社会语言学的理论与方法论基础为开端，"微观"与"宏观"社会语言学具体研究为主体，社会语言学在双语教育、法
律等特定领域的应用为结尾，附以丰富的参考文献为研究工具，本书引领读者了解社会语言学的全貌，并鼓励读者
在此基础上深入研究，丰富发展该学科。

《社会语言学通览》是一本由28篇文章组成的文集，文章多由知名社会语言学学者撰写，每篇文章都综述了一个分支领域或专题的研究状况，较适宜作为语言学学者以及对社会语言学有所了解的研究生的参考书。本书分为四个部分：第一部分为"基础"，涉及社会语言学的一些基本问题和基本状况；第二部分谈"微观社会语言学"方面的研究，关注的是言语特征及其与社会环境的关系，以及言语特征如何受到社会因素的影响；第三部分谈"宏观社会语言学"方面的研究，该领域将语言问题看作社会问题的一部分，致力于描绘和探索社会对语言的所作所为；第四部分介绍了社会语言学在特定实践领域的应用。
