　　大卫艾许是剑桥耶稣学院的灵学教授，深信人类死后并无安息之地。一天，他接到艾德布鲁克之家韦伯手机游戏软件下载的来信，请他前往调查该宅邸发生的怪事。
　　艾德布鲁克之家住了三兄妹，冷漠孤僻的劳勃，生气勃勃的赛门，和独立、大胆、美丽的克莉丝汀娜。在调查期间，大卫发现艾德布鲁克之家本身似乎有怪异处，他常常为莫名的意外所伤，另一方面，克莉丝汀娜的美深深吸引了他，扰动他的激情，他无法抗拒的成了她的情人。
　　调查的情形毫无突破，大卫自己反而逐渐陷入迷惑。他常常看到闪现的鬼影，而他毫无来由的感到：那就是他幼时溺水而死的双胞胎妹妹茱莉叶。
