.本片是艾米·舒默编写的第一个剧本，在写作过程中，她就不断地与贾德·阿帕图讨论，认为他是导演第一人选。

.迄本片为止贾德·阿帕图导演的所有影片当中，只有本片不是他本人编写剧本。

.影片中艾米的上司由蒂尔达·斯文顿出演。艾米·舒默写剧本的时候就把这个角色形容为“蒂尔达·斯文顿那一类”，阿帕图给斯文顿打去电话，后者自称是他的方式，愉快地接受了邀请。

.影片演员标准包括了五位著名的《周六夜现场SNL》卡司，分别是比尔·哈德尔、凡妮莎·拜尔、皮特·戴维斯以及科林·奎恩。

.蒂尔达·斯文顿与埃兹拉·米勒继《我们需要谈谈凯文》（2011）之后的第二次合作。

.剧本出现了NBA球星勒布朗·詹姆斯，一开剧组邀请《菲利普船长》的巴克德·阿巴蒂出演这个角色，在他因故不能出演之后，剧本找到了真正的勒布朗·詹姆斯加盟，后者答应出演。
