　　在墨西哥的塔咖提，每年都会举行巴扎1000汽车拉力赛，虽然没有达喀尔拉力赛久负盛名，但这项以艰苦和危险著称的多车种拉力赛仍吸引了不少汽车运动爱好者的前往，并与美国印第安纳州的Indy 500和Daytona24小时赛事齐名，在世界汽车竞技运动中占据着不可替代的位置。

　　  巴扎1000拉力赛整个比赛路程穿越墨西哥巴扎半岛，沿途路况崎岖、恶劣，如同近代蛮荒的美国西部，荆棘丛生，黄沙遍地，所有的危险都不可预知。为捕捉墨西哥沙漠和惊险比赛的珍贵镜头，摄制组动用了55部摄像机，4架直升机和4台车载摄像机，由80多人拍摄完成。

　　  巴扎1000拉力赛有近千人参加，本片取材于2003年赛事，片中的车手不乏声明显赫的历届冠军，包括曾6次夺冠的罗比·戈登、被业内誉为“世纪车手”的马里奥·安德列蒂、年少时便步入车坛的吉米·瓦塞尔和和“摩托王子”麦克·麦考伊。他们的身手让比赛的精彩层出不穷。
