◎简　　介

　　本片讲述了三位主人公为保卫曾经工作过的芝加哥社区，致力于阻止暴力事件的感人故事。电影的主角“暴力阻断者”们都为一个叫做“停火”（CeaseFire）的创新性机构服务。该组织由流行病学家Gary Slutkin创立，他认为暴力的传播就像疾病传播一样，所以治疗方法就应该追踪受传染最深的，找到源头并将之消灭。由于阻断者本身的经历，他们在社区有非常高的可信度，他们的任务就是介入冲突之中，在事情演变成大规模暴力事件之前将其终止。但是在阻止暴力的过程中，阻断者们也有着道德上的困惑和纠结。他们介入的敌对双方都是熟悉的朋友，他们能够体会人们的痛苦，但却必须阻止他们因为痛苦而发起的反抗。
　　本片拍摄时间长达一年，集中反映了芝加哥成为全国暴力象征的那段时间。那时，整个城市暴力犯罪频出，最轰动的就是Derrion Albert案，一个芝加哥高中学生被殴打致死，暴力过程被全程摄录下来。
