　　本片是根据导演萨沙·盖特耶自己创作于1912年的同名剧本改编，是一部剧场话剧。讲述了从头天下午到第二天早上这段不到24小时的时间里，发生在一个房间里的故事。情节朴素简单，一共有三个主要角色：丈夫、妻子和客人。盖特耶本人饰演丈夫，并在影片中有一段长达17分钟的独白，足见其语言功底深厚。本片是一部“风尚喜剧”(法语"Comédie de m?urs", 一种描写和讽刺社会时尚的喜剧)
