　　Hogfather是Discworld系列中最畅销的一本小说，最近终于被sky电视台改编成3小时的电视影集，真是最让人惊喜的圣诞礼物了。影集的制作水准很高，书中的神奇世界被展现的淋漓尽致，甚至作者Terry Pratchett也有客串演出。
　　Hogfather的故事发生在被称为Discworld的异世界里，那里的居民并不像我们一样居住在一个熔化的铁球上面几千英里的地方（笑），而是生活在由四头巨象驼着的圆盘上，巨象们则是站在一只星球般庞大的宇宙海龟背上。Hogswatchnight是Discworld里最重要的一个节日，每年12月32日的晚上，身穿红色长袍，张着白胡子和獠牙的Hogfather会驾着四头野猪拉的雪橇给每个孩子送上礼物。今年的Hogswatchnight转眼降至，Ankh-Morpork城中却酝酿着一个巨大的阴谋，The Auditors雇佣了杀手行会的Mr. Teatime准备消灭Hogfather。The Auditors是一群神秘人物，他们控制着Discworld中的各种事物，保证它们都按照正常的规律运行，比如所有化学变化都必须循规蹈矩，你不能往汤里丢青蛙腿和蝙蝠翅膀就炼出黄金。但在这个巨龟驼着的世界里显然很难保持正常，那些白目的魔法师总是破坏自然规律，而龙和其他怪异的生物也会三不五十的光顾，不过最让The Auditors烦心的就是Hogfather，明明就是个不存在的人物，却每年都要私闯别人家的烟囱。这次似乎Mr. Teatime终于要消灭Hogfather了，他绑架了牙齿仙子，在牙齿仙子的城堡里收集了一百万颗孩子的牙齿，借此控制所有孩子不要相信Hogfather。这时死神发现了Hogfather身处危难，于是他接替了Hogfather的职位，穿上红袍戴上胡子开始给孩子们送礼物，但他把任务执行的太彻底了，小女孩要锋利的宝剑他也照送不误。另一方面死神的孙女Susan决心找到失踪的Hogfather，在Hogfather的城堡里只有宿醉之神Bilious，世界上只要有人宿醉呕吐他就会感同身受。城堡由于世人对Hogfather的信仰减弱，开始全面崩溃，Susan带着Bilious逃离了城堡，到巫师学院Unseen University寻求帮助。此时巫师们也不好过，由于对Hogfather的信仰的流失，世界上多出了很多“多余信仰”，这些能量在Unseen University中制造了一堆精灵和小鬼，巫师们一个个被弄得焦头烂额。在Discworld的一片混乱之中Susan踏上了拯救Hogswatchnight的道路……(By FOXhunt）
