◎简　　介　

　　作曲家波特（约翰·马尔科维奇 John Malkovich 饰）和作家妻子姬特（德博拉·温格 Debra Winger 饰）在二战后携两人的朋友雷纳（坎贝尔·斯科特 Campbell Scott 饰）一起来到北非撒哈拉旅行。在神秘而捉摸不定的沙漠中，波特和姬特的婚姻危机似乎也因此得到了异样 的缓和——波特流连于和当地的妓女寻欢，而姬特却和雷纳发生了关系。在夫妻关系的断裂中，波特和姬特重新意识到对方对自己的重要性。然而此时波特不幸染上霍乱，姬特带着他辗转奔袭在撒哈拉，严酷的沙漠吞噬了希望，最终波特还是离姬特而去。姬特在悲痛中阴差阳错跟随一支驼队继续在沙漠中踯躅，并成为驼队的女人，在无尽的沙漠中渐行渐远……
