　　根据索伦．威尔逊的原著改编。故事讲述一位年轻的大公司干部遇到了重大的事业考验，使他回忆起在二次大战时结下的一段露水情缘，并由此反省生命的真正意义。编导南奈利强生将原著小说对现实的尖刻讽刺削减，使之转达化成一部纯粹的伦理爱情片，同时，他用了过长的篇幅来叙述战时情景，使全片的发展显得缓慢和平淡，但格雷戈里．毕克、珍妮弗．琼斯、弗雷德．马区等几位重要演员在片中都演得相当精彩。
