简　　介  

　　德川幕府时代，会津藩马回队武士笹原伊三郎（三船敏郎 饰）剑术高超，为人则恪守职责，忍辱负重。某日，藩主松平政容（松村达雄 饰）将爱妾阿市（司叶子 饰）以大不敬的罪名赶出藩邸，并命其下嫁伊三郎的长子与五郎（加藤刚 饰）。迫于对藩主的忠诚，笹原家最终接受了这门婚事。婚后与五郎和阿市相亲相爱，婚姻美满。
　　然事情突然发生变化，阿市于城中生养的儿子成为藩主继承人，为免有失体统，藩主欲将阿市召回。不满藩主的出尔反尔，伊三郎强硬拒绝了来使的无理要求。双方剑拔弩张，伊三郎和与五郎不惜以鲜血维护武士不可侵犯的荣誉……
　　本片荣获1967年英国电影妹会奖萨瑟兰郡奖，1968年电影旬报之最佳导演、最佳影片和最佳剧本，1968年每日电影奖最佳影片，1967年威尼斯电影节费比西奖国际影评人奖。
