　　音乐剧“变身怪医”重新诠释了英国小说家罗伯特·路易斯·史蒂文森(Robert Louis Stevenson)一八八六年出版的著名作品《化身博士》，讲述了一位天才洋溢的科学家哲基尔(Dr. Jekyll)本是位受人尊敬的医生，但他发明了一种可以诱发性格中罪恶面的神奇药物；当他以自己为实验对象喝下这种药物后，无意间分裂出了自己内心邪恶人格的化身——海德先生(Edward Hyde) 于是哲基尔医生变成了一个双面人：白天是可敬的大夫，晚上则是四处作恶的杀人犯；他终日徘徊在善恶之间，其内心的内疚与犯罪的快感不断冲突，令他饱受折磨；而整个城市也笼罩着一种危险的气氛，并由此引发了诡秘的侦探故事……
　　“变身怪医”的编剧不仅忠于原著，而且在善与恶的争斗中加入了浪漫爱情的童话、欲念、愤怒和谋杀等新的元素，更在这个貌似荒诞无稽的故事中蕴藏了一个深刻的人性命题：人，到底是简简单单的黑白分明、一成不变的非善即恶，还是既善亦恶，时善时恶?
　　本品收录了“变身怪医”于纽约百老汇普利茅斯剧院(Plymouth Theatre)演出的版本，由国际电视红星大卫·海斯霍夫(David Hasselhoff)领衔主演，同时饰演善良的哲基尔医生和恶名昭著的海德先生，淋漓刻画了人物内心爱憎交织、善恶交战的矛盾与挣扎。演出现场不但调配了数台高效能的摄影机联合拍摄，更动用了多达70只麦克风捕捉舞台音效与交响乐团的伴奏，力求引领观众体验身临其境的剧场感受。
