　　续集故事继续围绕杰克展开，他重回弗吉尼亚州的军事基地和苏珊·特纳少校会面，要解决一些个人问题。此时，特纳却意外被捕。杰克同时也陷入谜团，因为他被诬告犯有重罪，而且牵涉到一个自己完全不知道的小孩。这些，杰克都记不起来了。他要客服重重困难，去寻找特纳，最终解决问题。
　　
　　克里斯托夫·迈考利本职是编剧，曾写过《非常嫌疑犯》、《行动目标希特勒》、《致命伴旅》等片。作为导演，他此前只拍过《糊涂绑架事件》，后获派拉蒙和阿汤哥赏识，编剧并执导了《侠探杰克》。接下来，他还要给派拉蒙拍《碟中谍5》和《侠探杰克：永不归》。
　　
　　《侠探杰克》预算5700万美元，全球票房2.18亿美元，算是一个不错的开局。但是，该片并没有收到好口碑，不少评论认为，“故事老套、虎头蛇尾、逻辑不够严密。”到第二部续集，制片方希望找新编剧来写剧本。李·查德以杰克为主人公的小说有十多部，如果第二部能抓住更多观众，派拉蒙就可以继续把这个系列发展下去。
