本册教材一共8个单元。
每个单元均围绕一个特定的主题进行各项练习，包括口语技能（Conversational Skills）、课文阅读（Text Studies）及语法讲解（Grammar Studies）三大部分。
口语技能（Conversational Skills）提供跟主题相关的示范性情景对话，并列出常用短语供学生进行相关口语练习。
课文阅读（Text Studies）围绕单元主题提供三篇阅读文章。其中，Text One要求教师进行重点讲解，解析重点词汇及语言点，进行篇章分析，并完成相关阅读理解、词汇及翻译练习。Text Two和Text Three则主要培养阅读能力，需要完成相应的阅读理解练习。三篇文章中的生词和重点短语均加颜色提示，便于学生查询。
语法讲解（Grammar Studies）贯穿本套教材（共三册），针对中国成人学生的特点及学习基础，由易到难地对英语重点语法项目进行讲解。每个单元对应一个语法项目，并有配套语法练习，便于学生巩固所学内容。
此外，为了学生们能够更好地熟悉和适应学位英语考试，本教材每两个单元安排一个测试练习（Practice Test），题型和难度均与学位英语考试要求一致。本册一共有4个测试练习。
为便于学生自学及教师的教学工作，本册教材还提供了练习测试参考答案和课文参考译文，有助于学生提高自学能力。
