本教材共分12个单元，每个单元安排5个课时，供3个月的强化训练使用。每个单元分主课文和补充阅读两大部分：主课文包含正文、单词表、专有名词表、注释及课后练习等内容，主要涉及联合国维和行动，军制和军兵种常识，武器与装备，军事纪律、礼节和队列动作，军事地形与导航，巡逻与安全检查，平民保护，军事工程，联合国维和任务区汽车驾驶，急救与防病措施，谅解备忘录与分队自携装备核查以及国际军事交流等，其中有相当多的内容与维和任务区实际相关，词汇学习及注释则针对课文中的背景知识和语言难点做重点讲解；补充阅读的主要目的是使学员扩充知识面和增大词汇量。

刘钊，1960年出生，江苏江阴人。国防科技大学国际关系学院教授，博士生导师，《解放军国际关系学院学报》主编，国务院政府特殊津贴获得者。曾任中国驻印尼使馆陆、海、空军副武官，联合国西撒哈拉全民投票特派团军事观察员，联合国东帝汶综合特派团军事联络官，非盟一联合国达尔富尔混合行动战区副司令兼参谋长。长期从事军事外交和国际维和教学与研究工作，参与并完成国家社科基金研究课题2项，主持、参与并完成军队级社科课题6项，获军队级优秀教学成果二等奖1项、三等奖2项，全军军事科学优秀成果特别奖1项，全军军事科研成果二等奖、三等奖各1项，荣立三等功3次。出版专著、教材9部，在国内核心及重要学术期刊发表论文60余篇。
