吉狄马加是中国当代著名的少数民族代表性诗人，同时也是一位具有罕见国际视野，人类意识和文化底蕴，产生广泛影响的国际性诗人，吉狄马加已在国内外出版诗集近四十种。其散文作品，一如其诗歌作品，具有“浓郁的抒情气质，深挚而柔美的语言 ”，毋庸置疑的审美价值。《敬畏群山(吉狄马加文学文化演讲汉英对照)》精选吉狄马加激情澎湃，遐思飞扬的演讲42篇，译成英文，系统阐述诗人的学术谱系，心路历程，以及其诗歌乃至为人为文主要题材，将补足一个大诗人在英语平台上的文本资源，给域外同行和研究者提供方便，为后学提供雅译范本。
