秦秀白等编著的《综合教程》是“新世纪大学英语系列教材”中的主干教程，是根据教育部高等教育司颁发的《大学英语课程教学要求》(以下简称《课程要求》编写的。我们希望本教程的l—4册能帮助同学们在中学英语学习的基础上，进一步完善和提高“听”、“说”、“读”、“写”、“译”诸方面的基本技能，并协同《视听说教程》、《阅读教程》、《快速阅读》和《写作教程》全面实现《课程要求》规定的“一般要求”的教学目标；我们也希望同学们能够通过各种教学活动体验并学会如何自主学习英语。
