The Israel Museum in Jerusalem, world-famous for its unique holdings in Judaica and Near Eastern archaeology--including the Dead Sea Scrolls--also houses encyclopedic collections in the fine arts, representing an impressive range of periods and cultures from around the globe. Among these is a remarkable collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, brought together over the past forty years through the generosity of donors worldwide, responding to the Museum's embrac-ing curatorial vision: paintings by such impor- tant Impressionists as Camille Pissarro, Edgar Degas, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, and the American Childe Hassam, and by Post- Impressionists such as Paul Cezanne,Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Henri-Edmond Cross, and Edouard Vuillard, along with works of sculpture by such artists as Auguste Rodin, Edgar Degas, and Aristide Maillol.
