本书讨论语言交际过程中的互动情形，研究在言语交际过程中交际双方是如何实现互动——如何协商以及如何对抗的。本研究以功能语言学理论为基本框架，分析交际者的较色、交际的语气系统、交际中表达态度和评价的手段、交际过程的话语模式等。本研究以美国著名的电视访谈节目Larry King Live作为分析样本，语例生动自然，分析独到精辟。
