These sculpted heads inspired the characters which flourished in the paintings that followed. Beginning with small canvases, the character Jean Louis was introduced; this existential figure evolved into an extensive cast of characters including relatives and staff members such as the wife, the girlfriend, a chauffeur, and the maid. The humorous evolution of these individuals can be seen throughout Condo's extensive sketches and drawings. This body of work was exhibited at Xavier Hufkens Gallery in Brussels, January 2006.
